Service Description

In this class we will teach you how to begin working with borosilicate glass. You will learn what equipment is used, how to safely light the torch, and how to use the tools needed to shape the glass. The instructor will demo the process first so you can see the steps and then it's your turn! You will start by making a perfectly clear marble to learn the basics of melting, gathering, shaping, and finishing a marble. Then you will get to choose colors and make your own custom marble. Time permitting, you may also have a chance to make a simple sculpture if you are interested. All material and eye protection is provided. Your work will be available for pick up the next day after annealing (cooling down). Instructor: Jonathan Casto is a world-renowned glass artist who has studied with the masters in Murano and whose work is prized by collectors. Cost: $500 for up to 2 students. You may add 1 or 2 additional people for $100 each. Keeping it to a maximum of 4 students enables everyone to have sufficient time on the torch. Got a larger group?
