Introduction to Pipe Making

Description

In this class we will teach you how to begin working with borosilicate glass. You will learn what equipment is used, how to safely light the torch, and how to use the tools needed to shape the glass. The instructor will demo the process first so you can see the steps and then it's your turn! You will choose your colors and make your own custom pipe. All material and eye protection is provided. Your work will be available for pick up the next day after annealing (cooling down). Instructor: Jonathan Casto is a world-renowned glass artist who has studied with the masters in Murano and whose work is prized by collectors. Cost: $500, max class size 4. Keeping it to a maximum of 4 students enables everyone to have optimal time on the torch. Who Should Attend - Appropriate for participants with limited or no glass-making experience - Must be 21 years of age or older Additional Information - All materials included in price - Your finished work will be available for pick-up the next day after annealing (cooling off). - Cotton shirts and closed-toe shoes are REQUIRED - Bring lots of water (it is hot in the shop!) and snacks as desired Scheduling information - Class duration: Approximately 5 hours - This class has a minimum of 2 participants, maximum of 4 - Please note that your class may be rescheduled if fewer than 2 participants are registered for the session - Got a larger group?
